Blow and Blast
Woodwind Band
This is probably
Perthshire’s only adult woodwind band.
It was
originally conceived as a sort of ‘mini-band’, to
extend the playing experience of participants from
the Blow & Blast woodwind
ensemble workshops.
However, it is also ideal for those seeking an
occasional fun play-along to help keep them in
practice.
Please note – this is definitely
not a
standard/conventional concert band!!
Intended for:
-
Players from the
woodwind workshops who feel they would enjoy a
rather different repertoire.
-
Anyone else who would
enjoy a ‘good blow’ without the need for regular
attendance.
-
Those who would
benefit from the support of ‘doubling’ with
other players.
A good way for
‘borderline’ folk to discover whether or not they
are ready to join the intermediate workshop.
Instruments:
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet,
Bassoon. You will need your own instrument!
We are happy to consider including a few
saxophone or brass players, if it is possible to do
so without adversely affecting the balance of the
group. If
you are a saxophone/brass player who would like to
participate, contact us at
info@blowandblast.co.uk to register your
interest.
Objective:
A fun play-along.
Music:
Generally a 5 or 6-part
texture, incorporating features common in wind band
repertoire.
Standard:
Probably best suited to players from about Grade 2 -
6.
Anyone of a higher standard who would like to
participate is welcome, but may not feel
sufficiently challenged.
Players with a very limited number of notes
are unlikely to cope in the band unless they already
read music fluently.
If you
are in this category, it is absolutely essential
that you specify exactly what you can manage when
booking, so that an appropriate part can be provided
for you.
